Introduction

Welcome to PlaceTrix. This Privacy Policy explains how we ("PlaceTrix," "we," "us," or "our") collect, use, share, and protect information in relation to our mobile application and services (collectively, the "Service"). This policy applies to all users — Students, Teachers/TPOs, and Administrators.

Your use of PlaceTrix is managed by your educational institution (the "Institution"), which acts as the Data Controller. PlaceTrix acts as the Data Processor on their behalf. By using our Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

From Your Institution

Your Institution provides us with: your full name, institutional email address, batch or graduation year, and your University PRN and/or Roll Number.

From You Directly

When you use the Service, you may provide: your mobile number and parent's mobile number, current and permanent address, HSC/Diploma percentage and semester GPAs, resume or CV uploads, event RSVP responses, and mock test answers and results.

Automatically Collected

We automatically collect attendance data (Event ID, timestamp, TPO ID) during QR scans, usage metrics such as features used and time spent, and device information including model, OS version, and push notification identifiers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect strictly to provide and improve the Service. This includes:

  • Managing your account and personalizing your experience.
  • Facilitating placement opportunities and employer connections.
  • Tracking event attendance via QR-based check-ins.
  • Conducting assessments and delivering your results.
  • Sending transactional push notifications and emails.
  • Generating anonymized institutional reports and analytics for your TPO.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising outside the scope of placement facilitation.

How We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Your Institution — TPOs and Administrators have access to your profile, academic data, and platform activity.
  • Potential Employers — When you explicitly apply for an opportunity, your profile and resume are shared with that employer.
  • Service Providers — Google Cloud Platform and Firebase process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
  • Legal Obligations — We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or governmental authority.

Data Storage & Security

We store your data on Google Cloud Platform and Firebase, which provide encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel with a legitimate need.

While we implement industry-standard safeguards, no digital system can guarantee absolute security. We encourage you to use strong passwords and log out when using shared devices.

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you are an active user. Following graduation or account deactivation, data retention is governed by your Institution's policies. Contact your TPO or Administrator for details specific to your institution.

Your Rights & Choices

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Access & Correction — View and edit your profile information directly in the app.
  • Resume Management — Upload, replace, or remove your resume at any time.
  • Account Deletion — Contact your Institution's Administrator or TPO to request deletion.

Where required by applicable law (such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), you may also have rights to data portability and the right to withdraw consent.

Future AI-Powered Features

We may introduce an AI-powered Analytics Assistant for TPOs in the future, operating exclusively on aggregated or anonymized data. This will be disclosed in an updated Privacy Policy prior to launch, with in-app notification before any AI-powered functionality affecting personal data is enabled.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. Material changes will update the "Effective Date" above and be notified via the app. Continued use after changes constitutes your acceptance.
